Inside The Brain of Alderman Helen Shiller – Uptowns Future Is In the Balance…

Interesting article that really captures Uptown’s political theater. You can quickly see why the neighborhood is so segregated and charged with frustration. Uptown is headed toward a economic bifurcation – it will either become a sanctuary for first time buyers and empower a growing ownership society, or it will become another Cabrini Green experiment circa 1994. Uptown is going through an all out turf battle.

I am all for housing low income families but not in an island in the sky (Wilson Yard). This neighborhood is leaps and bounds more exciting than any other in Chicago.
